The New Years Eve party started early at Hindmarsh Stadium as Adelaide United ended 2012 with an emphatic 3-0 win over a youthful Sydney FC tonight.
Dario Vidosic continued his potent scoring form with a first half brace before Iain Ramsay celebrated his return to the team with a goal just after the hour mark. Almost just as significantly, the game also saw the Reds record their first clean sheet since round seven.
As comprehensive as the result was, it could have been even more lopsided as the home side peppered the Sky Blues goal in the second half, Vidosic unlucky not to get his hat-trick as he was denied twice by the woodwork. Read more

The Perth Wildcats have demolished the Sydney Kings 95-61 on the back of huge performances by Kevin Lisch, Jesse Wagstaff and Greg Hire.
The win extends the ‘Cats record to nine wins and four losses, as the team enter the heart of the 2012/13 NBL Championship.
The game was one-sided from the opening tip with the result all but determined very early after the ‘Cats blitzed the Kings by 18 points in the opening quarter. Read more
An inspirational performance from Bernard Tomic and a knee injury to a tearful Andrea Petkovic saw Australia take a 3-0 victory over Germany in Saturday night’s Hopman Cup 2013 at Perth Arena.
Tomic produced two spirited fightbacks to defeat world No.21 Tommy Haas 7-6(6) 3-6 7-5 in the unique mixed-teams event.
Petkovic won the first set 6-4 over 16-year-old Queenslander Ashleigh Barty who put in a solid performance in the opening set of the women’s singles rubber. Read more

The WACA has today paid tribute to Mike Hussey after the Western Australian batsman announced his retirement from international cricket.
Hussey will play his final Test in Sydney against Sri Lanka, starting next Thursday, and be available for the remainder of the 2012-13 Australian summer. His availability for the Warriors and Perth Scorchers will be reviewed at the end of the season.
Hussey made his international debut in front of his home crowd at the WACA Ground in a one-day international against India in 2004. He played his first Test at the age of 30 against the West Indies at the Gabba in November 2005. Read more
Australia’s Casey Dellacqua (Perth, WA) and Olivia Rogowska (Melbourne, Vic) have today been confirmed as wildcards for the Sydney International 2013.
The pair will find their place in the main draw, beginning Sunday January 6, alongside seven of the world’s top 10 women.

A stomach virus has plagued the Spanish superstar’s preparation for the summer as he attempted to rejoin the tour for the first time since a mid-year knee injury.

Sydney FC exacted sweet revenge on Central Coast with a dramatic 1-0 victory thanks to a late Brett Emerton winner at Allianz Stadium tonight.
During the week Coach Frank Farina asked for courage and a fighting spirit from the players and they responded in spades, dominating the top-of-the-table Mariners to move off the bottom of the ladder, just three points outside the top six.
The local derby was played at a frantic tempo with the Sky Blues deserving the win in front of a boisterous crowd of 16,887. Read more

The former Hobart champion is looking forward to playing the tournament for the fourth time.

Brisbane Roar has recorded a first away win of the season, courtesy of a hard-fought 1-0 win over Adelaide United at Hindmarsh Stadium.
The away side showed more of the promise on display in the second half against Perth Glory the previous week to secure a well-deserved three points.
