Socceroos Head Coach Ange Postecoglou has added a sports science cutting edge to his team staff ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup with Peter Cklamovski and Andrew Young joining Football Federation Australia (FFA).

Cklamovski (National Teams Football Analyst) and Young (Sports Scientist and Football Conditioning Coach) will bring Australia’s world renowned excellence in sports science and analysis to the Socceroos.

The pair will also undertake broader roles with Australia’s junior men’s National Teams as part of the FFA’s pledge to provide the resources to build a world-class support structure and systems around the Socceroos and national teams.

The dual appointment comes a week after Ante Milicic was announced as one of Postecoglou’s assistant coaches with the trio joining Postecoglou’s Socceroos staff in London on March 5 for the clash with Ecuador.

“I’m happy Peter and Andrew have agreed to join us on what is an exciting journey with the Socceroos,” Postecoglou said. “They are both exceptionally talented in their fields and will add another dimension to the current Socceroos staff.

“Sports science and analysis is something Australia is renowned for around the world and I saw that as a missing ingredient in the Socceroo set up. We have been vocal in our goal to have world’s best practice off the field and this is a good step in that direction.

“I’m pleased we have been able to bring quality staff to contribute to the growth and success of the National Team.”

Cklamovski is currently employed by Melbourne Victory and will finish the A-League season with the Victory but, as with Milicic, will be able to join the Socceroos in London before returning to fulfil his commitments in Melbourne.

“I’d like to thank Melbourne Victory for their cooperation and understanding in allowing Peter to become part of the National Team program,” Postecoglou said. “I look forward to having both Andrew and Peter join the staff and make a valuable contribution to the development of the Socceroos and National Team program.”
