Cricket Australia, the ACT Government and Cricket ACT today announced that Canberra’s Manuka Oval will host Test cricket in the 2018-19 cricket season.
Cricket Australia Chief Executive Officer, James Sutherland joined ACT Chief Minister, Andrew Barr MLA and Cricket ACT Chief Executive Officer, Cameron French at Manuka Oval, following the announcement of the 2016-17 Australian men’s international schedule earlier in the day.
“Over several years, Canberra has demonstrated a strong appetite for international cricket, with consistently strong crowds coming to Manuka Oval for One-Day International matches,” Mr Sutherland said. Read more
Perth will host the opening Commonwealth Bank Test of the 2016-17 summer of cricket in a break from tradition that will have current world No.1 Australia take on third-ranked South Africa at the WACA Ground from 3-7 November.
The move marks the first time since hosting Zimbabwe in October 2003 that Perth will hold the opening Test of the summer and comes as welcomed news to a state that is home to about a quarter of the country’s South African expat population, while the time difference between Western Australia and South Africa will allow for primetime viewing.

Victoria’s motorcycling mecca, the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit, will remain Australia’s exclusive home of the world’s leading motorcycling championships with MotoGP and World Superbikes confirmed to race at the scintillating 4.445km island circuit for another decade plus.
The contract extensions for both championships were announced by the Victorian Minister for Tourism and Major Events, the Hon. John Eren MP today, assuring fans MotoGP will race at the track until 2026 and the FIM Superbike World Championship for production bikes (WorldSBK) will return each year until 2027.
The host agreement was reached between the State Government of Victoria, the Australian Grand Prix Corporation, the Victorian Major Events Company (VMEC), the international promoter of both championships – the Spanish group DORNA, and the Phillip Island Grand Prix circuit. Read more

Adelaide United have been crowned A-League Premiers in the last round of the 2015/16 season.
Following Adelaide United’s 2-0 win over Melbourne City on Friday night, the Reds’ fate was left in the hands of Brisbane Roar, who lead the competition going into the final around of the campaign.
Brisbane’s failure to take all three points against Melbourne Victory on Saturday night ensured United would not be toppled from the league’s summit, clinching their first Premiership since the inaugural A-League season. Read more
