Eagles fans across the country win big
West Coast Eagles members and fans across the country will be the big winners in 2017 after the AFL released the premiership fixture today.
The Eagles will host Thursday night blockbusters against Sydney and Geelong, the first on Easter Thursday in the annual HMAS Sydney II game, while reining premiers Western Bulldogs will head west for a Friday night clash in round eight.
In a terrific result for West Coast members and fans in Victoria, the Eagles will play seven games in Melbourne in 2017, up from four in 2016.
West Coast Eagles CEO Trevor Nisbett says the 2017 draw is a great result for Eagles fans from all over Australia.
“We’re very pleased in our draw for 2017 and feel our members and supporters have plenty to be excited about,” Nisbett said.
“We get the chance to play on the national stage on two Thursday nights and a Friday night, all at home, and overall our home games are very fan-friendly.
“To play fellow finalists Western Bulldogs, Sydney, Geelong, Greater Western Sydney and Adelaide at home is fantastic.
“The Carlton Draught Derbies are always key dates in the calendar and we’re excited to host the opening Derby in round six.
“We’re very proud to be hosting both Sir Doug Nicholls Round and Multicultural Round at Domain Stadium, where we can pay tribute to the great contribution to the game from Indigenous and multicultural Australians alike.
“The chance to play in front of our Victorian members and supporters, our strongest band of outside of WA, seven times in 2017 is also a fantastic result.”
