The Chiefs have defeated a brave and determined Western Force 16-7 in front of a boisterous Sea-of-Blue at nib Stadium in Perth this evening.
The Waikato-based side had won of eight of the previous 10 encounters, and came to Perth full of confidence following their come-from-behind victory over the Cheetahs last weekend.
The Force meanwhile had their second bye of the season though were nursing injuries to several key players from the high-scoring and entertaining clash with the Kings a fortnight ago. Read more

Adelaide United is delighted to officially announce the return of goalkeeper, Paul Izzo, on a three-year contract with the Club.
Izzo’s deal means the young gloveman will stay with the Reds until at least the end of the A-League 2019/20 season.
The 22-year-old started his professional career with Adelaide, serving as back up to Club Captain, Eugene Galekovic, and played seven matches in four years. Read more

Wests Tigers are pleased to announce that halfback Luke Brooks has extended his playing contract with the Club for the next two seasons.
The new deal will see Brooks remain with Wests Tigers until at least the end of the 2019 season.
Since making his NRL debut for the Club in 2013, the former Dally M Rookie of the Year has played a total of 70 first-grade games in Wests Tigers colours, making his representative debut for the NRL All Stars in 2015. Read more

The Australian Men’s Sevens team has finished the Singapore 7s in fourth place after falling to England in the Third Place Play Off 12-14.

Australia defeated World Series leaders, South Africa in the Quarter Finals with a stunning come from behind 19-17 victory. Progressing to the top four, a quick American outfit accounted for Australia 7-40 before the men in gold fell in a tight battle against England 12-14.
The injury ravaged Aussie 7s were without veterans Ed Jenkins and James Stannard who were unable to play after injuries suffered on day one of the tournament.
It was left to the next generation of Aussie 7s talent to stand up with Tom Lucas, John Porch, Henry Hutchison, Charlie Taylor and Lachie Anderson all making an impact throughout the day. Read more
The Melbourne Rebels came from behind to claim their first win of the season when they defeated the Brumbies, 19-17 at AAMI Park, Melbourne on Saturday night.
A late penalty by Reece Hodge in the dying minutes sealed the win over the Australian Conference leaders and capped off celebrations for foundation player Laurie Weeks’ 100th Super Rugby appearance.
The Rebels opened the scoring first when Hodge booted the hosts to a 3-0 lead inside the first 10 minutes. Read more

Sydney FC capped off their remarkable, record-breaking regular season in style defeating the Newcastle Jets 2-0 to smash the A-League points record and lay claim to being the greatest team in Australian football history.

The win takes the Sky Blues to 66 points from a possible 81 this season with 20 wins to their name having dropped points in just seven games.
The total eclipses Brisbane Roar’s points total of 65 and was achieved with Sydney FC playing three fewer games.
Second half goals to Milos Ninkovic and Alex Brosque sealed the points for the Sky Blues, leaving their ecstatic fans to celebrate their team’s triumphant and watch skipper Brosque raise the Premiers Plate. Read more
The Australian Men’s Sevens team are through to the Quarter-Finals in Singapore after finishing top of Pool C with three straight wins on day one.
Australia will play England in the Cup Quarter-Final at 2:52pm AEST on Sunday April 16, after victories against Samoa, Kenya and Argentina on Saturday.
It wasn’t without casualty though, with skipper Tom Lucas set to be monitored overnight while experienced duo James Stannard (nose) and Ed Jenkins (shoulder) won’t play any part on day two. Read more
The Queensland Reds have defeated the Southern Kings 47-34 in their Round Eight Super Rugby match at Suncorp Stadium.

It was the first time that the Reds had met South Africa’s Southern Kings and both teams took advantage of the 3:00pm kick off, showing an intention to play expansively.
Karmichael Hunt, Eto Nabuli and Izaia Perese all crossed for doubles as the Reds ran in seven tries to five.
Reds head coach Nick Stiles said: “We’re just stoked with the win. It’s been a difficult start to the season, so to run out at our home ground tonight and earn a win for ourselves and our fans is really rewarding. Read more

The Australian Rugby Union (ARU) has today confirmed that one Australian team will be removed from Super Rugby when the competition reverts to a 15-team, three-conference format in 2018.
SANZAAR’s announcement of the competition restructure on Sunday followed a month of stakeholder consultation after the SANZAAR Executive Committee formed a consensus view on Super Rugby returning to a 15-team format at its March meeting in London.
ARU Chairman Cameron Clyne said: “It is important for me to clarify firstly that the decision to remove a Super Rugby team from Australia was a decision made by the ARU, not by SANZAAR. Read more

The Australian Men’s Sevens team has finished in third place at the Hong Kong 7s after defeating the USA 26-19.
Earlier in the day the Aussie 7s accounted for Argentina 21-12 in the Quarter Final before falling to a rampant Fiji 12-33 in the Semi Final.
Australia has been drawn in Pool C for the Singapore Sevens next weekend and will take on Argentina, Kenya and Samoa. Read more
