The North Queensland Cowboys can today announce that barnstorming forward and reigning Dally M Medallist Jason Taumalolo will be a “Cowboy for life” after agreeing to an historic 10-year deal with the club.
The milestone extension will have Taumalolo, 23, remain a Cowboy until the end of the 2027 National Rugby League season, meaning the prodigiously talented backrower will have been with the club for 20 years after joining their pathways program as a 14-year-old.
“I’m very proud and honoured to be able to say that I’m staying a Cowboy for life,” Taumalolo said. Read more

The Western Force can confirm that winger Luke Morahan will leave the club at the end of the 2017 Super Rugby season, to further his career at Bristol Rugby in the English Premiership.
Morahan has played 38 games for the Western Australian club to date since defecting from the Queensland Reds in 2014. Scoring 11 tries, including a club high five tries in the 2015 season.
The four-time capped Wallaby says that the decision to leave WA was a difficult one, but believes it’s the best choice to further his rugby career. Read more

The South Sydney Rabbitohs have extended the contract of back rower Kyle Turner until at least the end of the 2019 season.
Turner, 25, has played 56 NRL games for the Rabbitohs since making his first grade debut against the Tigers in 2014, and has gone on to represent the Indigenous All Stars on two occasions.
Originally from Coonabarabran in country NSW, Turner has overcome a serious neck injury to establish himself in the first grade squad at South Sydney. Read more

Perth Wildcats small forward Casey Prather has been crowned the Gordon Ellis Medallist as the club’s Most Valuable Player for the 2016/17 season.
Prather was presented with the award in front of 1,200 people the Grand Ballroom, Crown Towers.
Bryce Cotton came runner-up to the award, while Jameel McKay, Damian Martin and Matt Knight rounded out the top five (Martin and Knight tied for fourth). Read more
The Chiefs have scored a late win over a gutsy Melbourne Rebels with a 27-14 victory at AAMI Park, Melbourne, on Friday night.
The visitors scored 13 unanswered points in the last six minutes of the fourth round fixture to break a 14-all deadlock and maintain their unbeaten start to the season.
A spirited Rebels, fresh off the bye, showed plenty of vigour and resilience in a much-improved performance but couldn’t hold out the experienced Chiefs in the end. Read more
Australian Rugby Union (ARU) CEO, Bill Pulver has welcomed World Rugby’s announcement of an optimised International Calendar for 2020-2032.
The historic agreement will see the current June international window shift to July, enabling the Super Rugby competition to run uninterrupted from kick off in February through to a June Final.
There will also be a 39% increase in Test matches played between tier one and tier two nations, with all SANZAAR nations, including Australia set to host emerging Test nations in the July international window. Read more

Popular Western Warriors captain Adam Voges has today announced his retirement from domestic state cricket effective at the end of this Sheffield Shield season after a decorated 15-year career.
Voges, 37, will play at the WACA Ground for Western Australia for the final time in the Round 10 match against New South Wales from Thursday. He will also be available for the Shield final in Alice Springs against Victoria should WA qualify.
The long-serving batsman, who recently overtook John Inverarity for most wins as WA’s Sheffield Shield captain list, said it was “the right time” to retire. Read more

North Queensland co-captain Matt Scott will miss the remainder of the 2017 National Rugby League season after scans confirmed he has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
The 31-year old forward was forced off the field late in the second half of Friday’s epic golden point extra time round two derby clash between the Cowboys and Broncos at Brisbane’s Suncorp Stadium.
Speaking about the injury to Scott, Cowboys coach Paul Green said, “It’s obviously a huge blow for Matt and he’s understandably devastated.” Read more

The Australian Men’s Sevens side have fallen to New Zealand in the Fifth Place Semi-Final of the Canada Sevens in Vancouver.
|Australia’s James Stannard was unable to stop Fijian flyer Masivesi Dakuwaqa on day two of the Vancouver Sevens.

Earlier in the day, Australia was defeated by Fiji in the Cup Quarter-Final, who put on a masterclass of Sevens Rugby to take the match 28-10.
Australia take 10 points for finishing in seventh in Vancouver, leaving the side in sixth position on the World Series Standings.
The Aussie 7s will return home to begin their preparation for the infamous Hong Kong Sevens, which kicks off on April 7th.
