Tune a Wallaby contender - Miller

Queensland Reds coach Jeff Miller believes this week's interstate clash with the Brumbies holds plenty of importance to his team, especially resurgent winger Ben Tune, whose form has him in the minds of many as a Wallaby contender.

Miller says as with any interstate clash there's plenty of pride on the line but added there were additional incentives for a positive performance.

"There're Wallaby positions up for grabs, there's a fair bit of pride as well associated with it and I know that as a team we want to regain a bit of pride from last weekend," Miller said.

Tune is one player Miller believes is in contention for a place in the Wallabies squad.

"It'll be great this weekend, his battle with Stirling Mortlock. One would like to think that might decide in the selector's eye's who might grab that position."

Fullback Chris Latham is looking forward to his return after missing the past five matches with injury. Drew Mitchell will switch back to the wing to accommodate Latham's return, but Miller sees no reason for that to prevent Mitchell being as involved as he was last weekend.

"We're really looking for Drew to become more involved in play. That's not to say that we just want him there to finish off movements, we'd like to see him get himself in at first receiver on occasions as well which he does very well and then play from there.

"He's got the football brain to do it. I think he's been used to playing in a second line role looking for opportunities off the front line but he's got the ability to jump into that… first receiver role where he makes something happen out of nothing."

The Reds will take 23 players down to Canberra to cover for mishaps in training or during the warm up.
