Warriors in charge of clash with Bulls
Western Australia is within reach of their first Pura Cup outright victory after day three of the match
against Queensland at the Gabba Ground in Brisbane.
Spinner Beau Casson claimed 5-88 as the Bulls only managed 242 in their second innings. Earlier, the
Warriors claimed first innings points with Brett Dorey and Matthew Inness scoring the 15 runs that were needed
after being 8-293 overnight.
Bowled out for 331, Kasprowicz added a seventh wicket to his figures when Inness (15) played the ball
straight to Ashley Noffke, while Andrew Bichel snared Dorey's wicket caught behind for 23.
Kasprowicz finished with 7-103, the first Queenslander to take 400 Pura Cup wickets.
In reply, the Bulls made a solid start through openers Lachlan Stevens and Ryan Broad. However, Casson made
his first of his five breakthroughs with Stevens (39) dismissed on the last ball before the
main interval.
Queensland were 1-65 at lunch, and Broad rejoined his fellow opener, Stevens, in the pavilion five overs into the
second session when he attempted to loft Casson over the fence only to miss and
be stumped by keeper Ryan
Campbell.
Clinton Perren looked in ominous touch with a classy 70, while he lost his third-wicket partner Martin Love
(21) after the pair added 54 runs to the score line. The part-time bowling of Damien Martyn had Love trapped
infront of his stumps.
Craig Philipson (7) made it 4-154, with tea approaching after a tragic mid-wicket mix up with Perren saw
Chris Rogers run out him out.
Perren notched his second 50 of the match and with support from James Hopes got the total over 200 in the
59th over before he edged the ball to Marcus North at first slip.
Casson added wickets three and four to his tally in consecutive deliveries with Chris Hartley (10) bowled,
and Noffke caught behind first ball.
