Warriors end losing streak with outright win over Bulls
Western Australia has taken outright points after defeating the Queensland Bulls by three wickets late on the
fourth and final day of the Pura Cup match at the Gabba Ground in Brisbane.
The bogey streak of four straight outright defeats over, Western Australia's worst start to a season since
1948-49.
Brett Dorey claimed the man of the match honours following his bowling heroics on day one and with the bat
in both innings, ensuring the Warriors picked up first innings points early on Monday morning then he helped
Shaun Marsh guide their team to the 220-run victory target today.
The Warriors resumed overnight at 1-8, and made a steady start to day four with Clinton Heron and Beau
Casson adding a further 56 runs to the second-wicket stand before James Hopes snared Casson (31) with Ashley
Noffke taking the catch at fine leg.
Heron and Marcus North took the Warriors through to the lunch break without any further loss. Michael
Kasprowicz claimed North (28) caught behind. Andrew Bichel bowled the Bulls back into contention three overs
later with a devastating spell in which he claimed three wickets in just seven balls.
Damien Martyn (6) and Adam Voges (0) were both caught behind by Hartley, while Heron (54) fell at the start
of the 47th over, caught by Craig Philipson at first slip.
Ryan Campbell (18) shared a valuable 43-run partnership with Marsh. Noffke though put the Warriors on the
ropes when Bichel held the catch at gully.
