McGrath not to tour South Africa
Cricket Australia today confirmed that Glenn McGrath has made himself unavailable for selection for the Test
matches as part of the Travelex Tour of South Africa.
McGrath told the National Selection Panel he wished to remain in Australia and be with his family while his
wife underwent treatment for cancer.
He said that Jane has responded well to treatment thus far; however, it is still very early in the
process.
McGrath also wished to thank the large number of well wishers who had supported himself, Jane and the
children during this difficult time.
McGrath will not be available for any further media comment on this issue and asked that people continued
to respect his family’s privacy on the matter.
Chairman of the National Selection Panel Trevor Hohns said that the selectors fully supported Glenn’s
decision and looked forward to seeing him in Australian colours again in the future.
Hohns said that the Test squad for the Tour of South Africa will be chosen and announced early
next week.
