Redhage wins second NBL weekly award
Perth Wildcats import Shawn Redhage has secured his second National Basketball League (NBL) Philips Player of
the Week award after taking out the honour courtesy of his impressive Round 21 performance against Cairns.
The 203cm forward led from the front for the Wildcats with a 28-point haul which inspired Perth to a 91-81
upset victory over the Taipans on Sunday.
The American big-man was outstanding for the Wildcats, lifting his side at crucial stages in the game.
Redhage dominated the first term with 12 points, before finishing the night with a game-high 28 points as well
as eight rebounds and four assists.
Redhage, who also won the Philips Player of the Week back in Round Nine, has proven invaluable for Perth
this season by averaging 21 points, nine rebounds and three assists in 30 appearances for the ‘Cats.
Brisbane’s Mark Bradtke can perhaps consider himself unlucky to miss the Round 21 award after he recorded
33 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the Bullets 111-110 win over the West Sydney Razorbacks on Saturday
night.
Other players in the running for the Philips Player of the Week award for Round 21 included Gary Boodnikoff
(Cairns), Derek Rucker (Brisbane), Scott McGregor (West Sydney), Brett Maher (Adelaide), Russell Hinder
(Hunter), Brad Newley (Townsville), Larry Abney (Townsville), Brian Green, (New Zealand), Rich Melzer
(New Zealand), CJ Bruton (Sydney), Sedric Webber (Sydney), Cortez Groves (Wollongong) and Adam Ballinger
(Wollongong).
For winning the Philips Player of the Week award this round, Redhage will receive one of Philips latest
