Ronchi to take Gloves in Tasmania

Cricket '06 @ Sports Australia Young Western Warriors wicketkeeper batsman Luke Ronchi will play his first Pura Cup match in almost three years when he takes over behind the stumps in next week's fixture with Tasmania in Hobart.

Ronchi, who's last Pura Cup match was against Victoria at the MCG in March 2003, has been a regular in the Western Australian ING Cup team for the past two seasons and played in the recent three day tour match against South Africa at the WACA.

Ryan Campbell's retirement has given the exciting 24 year old the chance to cement a place as the Warriors next first choice wicketkeeper batsman with four matches remaining in the Pura Cup competition.

Ronchi's inclusion is one of two changes to the WA team which lost outright to Queensland at the WACA last week. Returning to the side with Ronchi is Vice-Captain Marcus North, who has recovered from a broken finger. Matthew Petrie has been left out of the team for the match which begins on Wednesday February 1st.
