Gilchrist fined for Code of Conduct breach
Australia’s Adam Gilchrist has been fined 40 per cent of his match fee for breaching the ICC Code of Conduct
during his country’s second ODI of the VB series against South Africa.
Gilchrist pleaded guilty of showing dissent to ICC Match Referee Jeff Crowe in a hearing in Adelaide on
Wednesday.
Gilchrist was found to have breached 1.3 of the ICC Code which relates to “showing dissent at an umpire’s
decision by action or verbal abuse”.
“Adam immediately pleaded guilty to the charge understanding the need to end this sort of action on the
field during play” said Mr. Crowe.
All Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official reprimand and a maximum penalty of 50 per cent
of a player’s match fee.
The charge was brought by the on field umpires Simon Taufel and Aleem Dar and third umpire Daryl
Harper.
Jeff Crowe reached his conclusion after a hearing attended by Gilchrist, Australian Team Manager Steve
Bernard and umpires Dar and Harper.
