2007 NBL Finals Dates Announced

NBL Philips Championship The National Basketball League (NBL) has revealed the dates for the 2007 Finals of the Philips Championship, with the playoffs set to start on 14 February next year.

Whilst St Valentine’s Day is normally associated with love, in 2007 it will mark the start of another hard-fought Philips Championship Finals series.

The single-game elimination Philips Championship Quarter Finals will run from February 14–17, with the best-of-three Semi Finals to be held from February 20–25.

The best-of-five Philips Championship Grand Final series will start with Game One on March 2. Game Two will be held on March 4, Game Three on March 7, Game Four (if required) on March 9 and Game Five (if required) on March 11.

“Our finals system will remain consistent for yet another year as we believe we have the best possible mix of sudden-death and multiple game series,“ said NBL General Manager Chuck Harmison.

“The top eight teams in the NBL will square off for the Dr John Raschke Trophy in what we believe will be one of the most exciting post-seasons ever.”

In 2006/07, two new teams will debut in the Philips Championship. The South Dragons will commence play out of Melbourne’s Vodafone Arena while Singapore will be home to a 12th NBL team, the Slingers. The regular season will tip-off on 20 September 2006, with teams playing each other three times each in a balanced 33-game fixture.

All dates remain subject to change depending on venue availability.
