Perth Glory’s future assured
Football Federation Australia has given assurance that Perth Glory’s future is in safe hands, with groups
interested in securing the club’s license for the Hyundai A-League set to advance negotiations.
The current owners of Perth Glory FC and Football Federation Australia have reached a mutual agreement to
terminate its existing participation licence on Sunday, April 30, 2006.
However, a number of parties have declared a serious interest in purchasing the Perth Glory FC licence in
the Hyundai A-League competition, assuring the Western Australian club of its future.
FFA will continue talks with these interested groups and will also continue to negotiate the venue hire
agreement for Members Equity Stadium on behalf of Perth Glory FC in preparation for the upcoming A-League
season.
From May 1 2006, FFA will assume interim control of Perth Glory FC to assist the club with day-to-day
management until a new owner is installed.
The Perth Glory FC players’ contractual arrangements will be managed by FFA and Perth Glory FC staff will
be offered continued employment on a casual basis.
Head of Operations for the FFA, Matt Carroll, insisted a new owner was likely to be installed in the not
too distant future.
“The FFA is committed to having Perth Glory in the Hyundai A-League competition and we are confident that a
new owner of the club will be confirmed in the near future,” Carroll said.
Outgoing chairman, Nick Tana, thanks all Perth Glory sponsors for their support of the club over the
years.
“There have been many corporate supporters who have backed my vision for the club. I thank them all for
their commitment and trust that they will continue to support the club moving forward,” Tana said.
