Rogers Sets Sights on Crusaders

NSW Waratahs NSW Waratahs spearhead Mat Rogers says he hasn’t given up hope of playing Friday week’s Super 14 blockbuster against the Crusaders at Jade Stadium.

Rogers suffered rib cartilage damage in last Friday’s 43-9 defeat of the Blues at Aussie Stadium, ruling him out of this week’s clash with the Cheetahs.

However the flyhalf says his recovery is progressing well and he’s still a chance to run out in Christchurch in 10 days time.

“The way I woke up on Saturday I was hoping to get back for this week but I just have to be a bit realistic about it,” Rogers told journalists in Sydney’s CBD on Tuesday.

“I’d love to come back for next week (against the Crusaders) but I’m certainly not going to rush it and put myself out for any longer period.

“There’s not much we can do in regards to treatment or anything, I can’t even really train at the minute so it’s just a matter of being able to put up with the pain and then getting out on the field as soon as I can.”

The full Rogers interview can be found in the M-Zone at www.waratahs.com.au.

The team for the Cheetahs clash will be announced tomorrow.
