Storm name 17-man squad for Panthers clash

NRL Telstra Premiership 2006 Melbourne Storm coach Craig Bellamy has named a 17-man squad for this Sunday’s Round 12 clash against the Penrith Panthers.

After last Saturday night’s disappointing 34-12 loss against the Manly Sea Eagles at Brookvale Oval, the Storm slipped from outright ladder leadership to third place, equal on points with ladder leader Newcastle, North Queensland, Brisbane and the Bulldogs.

Penrith on the other hand are coming off a 30-20 win over the Eels which elevated them to 10th place on the 2006 Telstra NRL Premiership ladder.

With the return of four State of Origin stars, Bellamy has made a number of changes to his squad.

Greg Inglis takes his place at fullback in place of Steve Turner who returns to the wing, while Matt King returns to the centre in place of the omitted Chris Walker.

Cameron Smith takes his place at hooker in place of Nathan Friend who will start on the bench alongside Jeremy Smith, whose place in the starting line-up has been taken by the return of Dallas Johnson at lock.

Along with Walker, Smith Samau, Adam Blair and Jamie Feeney have all been omitted from last week’s squad.
