Australian Socceroos captain and Melbourne Victory’s international ambassador, Mark Viduka, joined Australian and Victory star striker Archie Thompson today at the MCG, prior to the team’s final training session before the Powerade Cup against Grecce tomorrow night.

Melbourne Victory CEO, Geoff Miles presented Viduka with his own Melbourne Victory shirt and wished both players luck for the big game at the MCG.

“It’s great to see the strong Victorian presence in our national team and it was a big thrill for two of our players, Kristian Sarkies and Adrian Leijer, to be invited to join the squad for this week’s lead up to the game against Greece.” Miles said.

“We congratulate Mark on the fantastic honour of leading his country, and wish him, Archie and the team all the best for a successful World Cup campaign.”

“It’s been great to see the Victorian public get right behind Melbourne Victory in their first season.” Viduka said.

“I’m sure Archie, Kevin (Muscat) and the boys will have a great season and I urge all Victory supporters to sign up as members.”

A-League Club - Melbourne Victory Thompson has confirmed he will return to Melbourne following the World Cup in time for the season opener against Adelaide United on August 25th at Olympic Park.
