Reds draw FK Bunyodkor in ACL Quarter Finals
Thursday June 14, 2012
Adelaide United will face Uzbek club Buyodkor in the last eight of the 2012 AFC Champions League after the draw took place at AFC House in Kuala Lumpur.
The Reds were ironically drawn against the 2011 Uzbek Champions for the two legged Quarter Finals as they attempt to continue their phenomenal run in Asia’s premier club competition.
The two sides know each other very well having met four times previously in this competition with Adelaide United holding the edge with two wins, one loss and a draw.
The Reds winning away and drawing at home in this year’s group stage and in 2008 the Reds knocked Bunyodkor out of the competition at the semi-final stage. Adelaide United will be hoping history repeats itself in this years quarter finals.
The format for both the Quarter and Semi Finals will be played over two legs, home and away, with the winners decided on aggregate at the end of the two matches.
The first leg of the Quarter Finals will be played at hindmarsh Stadium on September 19 before the second leg takes place on either October 2 or 3 in Uzbekistan.
