Four more signings for Wanderers FC
Saturday June 30, 2012
Western Sydney Wanderers FC today announced the latest four signings in head coach Tony Popovic’s recruitment drive.
Former Sydney FC trio Michael Beauchamp, Mark Bridge and Shannon Cole today officially joined the newly formed Club bringing with them a high level of experience in the Hyundai A-League and passion for western Sydney.
All products of western Sydney, the trio return to their old stomping ground where they came through the ranks as junior footballers at clubs including Marconi, Parramatta Eagles and Apia-Leichhardt.
Not only do the trio have an affinity with Sydney’s west but also with their connection to Tony Popovic with both Cole and Bridge having worked with him previously at Sydney FC and Beauchamp having played alongside him for the Socceroos.
Nikolai Topor-Stanley also joins Wanderers FC following a three year spell in Newcastle.
With over 130 A-League appearances to his name, Topor-Stanley adds another layer of experience to the fledgling squad taking shape under the watch of Popovic.
Topor-Stanley will look to link up with Beauchamp in the centre of the Wanderers defence in the Club’s inaugural Hyundai A-League season.
“I’m very pleased to have players with the experience of these guys in my squad,” said Popovic.
“All four players have excellent pedigree in the A-League and each bring something different to the squad.”
The four players will commence training on Monday July 2 before pulling on the black and red hoops in the opening Western Sydney Wanderers FC match against Central Coast Mariners on October 6.
