Crawford released to join NSW Waratahs

Wednesday July 18, 2012

The Brumbies have released Cam Crawford from the final year of his contract to join the NSW Waratahs.

Crawford arrived in Canberra in 2011 as an Academy star and was rewarded with a two year deal at the end of his first year in the ACT.

Making his Super Rugby debut in Perth against the Force in 2012, Crawford has shown he has the potential to be a quality player in the future.

But limited game time and an opportunity to move home to Sydney prompted the outside back to ask the University of Canberra Brumbies for an early release.

Brumbies Head Coach Jake White wished Cam all the best in the future.

“Cam is a popular member of the Brumbies squad and it’s a shame to see him head back to Sydney,” White said.

“Unfortunately things haven’t worked out for him in Canberra, but with a fresh start in Sydney I’m sure he will have a successful career.

“Cam grew up in Sydney, his family are all still there, including his girlfriend, so it’s understandable that he was interested in taking an offer from the Waratahs.

“I’d like wish Cam all the best in the future, both on and off the rugby field.”
