England overhaul Wallabies at Twickenham
A rampaging second-half performance has seen England defeat Australia 26-16 at Twickenham.
Speedster Drew Mitchell was the only try-scorer for the Wallabies, while Mat Rogers booted a conversion
and three penalty goals.
For the English, Ben Cohen and Mark Cueto both scored tries, while Charlie Hodgson slotted a conversion,
two penalty goals and a drop goal with his replacement Olly Barkley finishing off Australia with a conversion
and penalty goal.
On a great day for Rugby, the Wallabies came out of the dressing rooms intent on snapping their six game
losing streak and attacked relentlessly for the first five minutes, but were unable to go over the line.
Some poor discipline from England saw Rogers put Australia ahead 3-0.
Minutes later, Hodgson leveled the scores, after captain George Gregan was yellow carded for
obstruction.
Wallabies full-back Chris Latham came agonizingly close to the line, before Lewis Moody was sin-binned.
Rogers converted the penalty and Australia were up 6-3.
28 minutes into the first half, England winger Ben Cohen was the beneficiary of some brilliant teamwork,
going over in the corner for the first try of the match.
Hodgson’s conversion made it 10-6 in favour of England, and the score-line was unchanged at half-time.

A Hodgson drop goal early in the second half stretched England’s lead out to seven, before both teams
traded penalties.
Mitchell ignited the Wallabies comeback, crossing the line courtesy of some hard work from Lote Tuqiri and
Latham.
Rogers fired home the conversion and the scores were 16-16 after 55 minutes.
Barkley then gave England the lead with a long-range penalty goal. Mark Cueto scored a dazzling 85th minute
try that handed England the 10-point victory.
Australia take on Ireland at Lansdowne Road in Dublin next Saturday in a bid to snap their seven-match
losing streak, while England face the intimidating All-Blacks at home.
