Dann found guilty, Smith fined for comments
The NBL Tribunal this evening has found West Sydney's Graeme Dann guilty of 'Unduly Rough Play' during the
match last weekend against the Sydney Kings.
Dann has been hit with a suspended fine of $500, which he will have to pay should he commit, and is found
guilty of, another offense before the end of the 2005/06 Philips Championship season.
Meanwhile Sydney Kings captain Jason Smith was hit with a $1,000 fine by the NBL earlier today for breaching
the rules and publicly criticising the standard of refereeing during the post-match press conference that
followed the fiery contest between the Kings and Razorbacks.
“The League office found that Jason Smith had clearly broken the NBL Rules with regards to Public Criticism
and as a result he has been fined,” said NBL General Manager Chuck Harmison.
“We have made it abundantly clear during the course of this season that we will enforce the NBL Rules in this
regard so there can be absolutely no excuse for a player, coach or team publicly criticising an official,”
Harmison added.
“The League will not allow open season on our referees and all teams are now on notice that any further
instances of this sort will be severely dealt with.”
