Gillespie ruled out of Prime Minister's XI match

Cricket '06 @ Sports Australia Cricket Australia today confirmed that Jason Gillespie has been ruled out of the Prime Minister’s XI fixture against England at Manuka Oval on November 10, due to a shoulder injury sustained during South Australia’s recent Pura Cup match against New South Wales.

Victorian skipper Cameron White replaces Gillespie as captain of the Prime Minister’s XI, having been originally selected as vice captain.

White said: “I’m delighted to be appointed captain of the Prime Minister’s XI. Obviously it’s disappointing that Jason has had to pull out through injury as it would have been good to have his experience in the team.

“However, I’m happy to take the captaincy on and Brett Dorey has been in good form this season, has played one day cricket for Australia and I expect him to be a vital cog in our team come Friday.”

Western Australia’s Brett Dorey, who has played one day cricket for Australia and was a member of the Australia A team during this winter’s Top End Tour, replaces Gillespie in the line up.

New South Wales batsman Phil Jaques steps up to become vice captain.

Meanwhile, Cricket Australia has advised that New South Wales wicket-keeper Brad Haddin has been fined 30 per cent of his match fee for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during the Pura Cup match between the Blues and the Redbacks at Adelaide Oval.

Umpires Andy Collins and Steve Davis deemed that Haddin showed dissent under rule 1.2 of Cricket Australia’s Code of Behaviour after he was given out LBW in the second over of New South Wales’ second innings.

The report was proven at a hearing last night in Adelaide by Cricket Australia Code of Conduct Commissioner John Gun.
