Bushrangers take outright points
Victoria have won the season opening Pura Cup match by four wickets against Western Australia at the WACA
Ground in Perth.
Requiring 98 runs when play resumed, and with rain on the horizon, both teams were keen to wrap the match
up quickly. The door was remained ajar for the Warriors when Brad Williams snared the vital scalp of David
Hussey (4) on the second ball of play and Brett Dorey trapped Nick Jewell lbw for 41.
Cameron White offered a chance in the 47th over with a drive back to bowler Steve Magoffin, he was
fortunate to survive as the big man could not hold on. After the first hour Victoria had added 57 runs to
their overnight score.
Reports came through that rain was due just on midday, and it appeared Jonathan Moss had been told at the
drinks break as he smashed Williams for two fours and guided the Bushrangers past 150.
Williams went close to taking a third wicket in the 51st over when Cameron White hit down the ground and
narrowly avoided a lunging Chris Rogers at deep mid-on. With light rain falling White set about ending the
game with a hook shot off Williams, however it hit the top edge and flew over the keepers head and down to
the fence.
With Inness unable to break through from the Prindiville Stand end, Dorey was brought back into the
attack, for which White took to him on the second ball with an on-drive boundary.
Just as the rain swept the ground Moss hit the winning runs.

Match Summary :: Day Four |
Moss was awarded the man of the match and at the post-match conference when asked if he was nervous about
the impending rain, "Not really the way Cameron (White) was batting I was confident we could get the runs
before it did rain."
Victorian captain Cameron White said, "It was a great effort from our bowlers."
Warriors captain Mike Hussey was naturally disappointed with the first up outright loss, "We want to make
it hard for other teams to win over here, we didn't do that in this match."
Both teams are in action on Sunday for the ING Cup match here at the WACA, with several high-profile
players returning to the scene. Play begins at 10am local.
