Glory kicks off Creative Community Play
Perth Glory FC’s ‘Glory in the Community’ program will cover new ground with today’s announcement of an
exciting joint venture commitment between Somerly residential estate, Summit Homes, Perth Glory and Western
QBE.
Announcing the ‘Somerly Home of Glory Built by Summit’ program, Glory FC CEO Jeff Dennis said leading Perth
builder Summit Homes would begin development in October of a $350,000-plus home-and-land package in the
visionary Somerly Estate at Clarkson.
The project was launched today at the Somerly residential estate, with representatives from the companies,
Perth Glory and the Minister for Housing and Works, the Hon Fran Logan, signing a super-sized soccer ball to
formalise the sponsorship agreement.
The home will be completed in March 2006 and will then be opened for inspection and ultimately sold on the
open market in early 2007. Profits from the sale will be donated to the ‘Glory in The Community’ project.
Known as “The Premier”, the home is one of the leading designs in the Summit range and promotes a feeling
of light and space. It features a resort style master suite, expansive open plan living and dining area,
separate home theatre, three additional bedrooms and a scooter bay alongside the double garage.
The name was chosen to signify the link to the premier football league while also demonstrating the union
of one of WA’s premier land estates and builders to support Glory in the Community.
‘Glory in the Community’ is a series of Perth Glory FC-funded, grass-roots activities for local communities
including coaching clinics, charity events, family outings, competitions, school activities and more.
Mr Dennis said Perth Glory was thrilled by the significance of the sponsorship, which he described as a
golden goal for the ‘Glory in the Community’ program, an initiative that has been underway since the Club’s
inception into the national competition in 1996.
“This generous sponsorship package from Somerly residential estate, Summit and Western QBE adds tremendous
depth to our community relations program, enhancing our efforts to create and nurture WA’s star football
players of tomorrow,” Mr Dennis said.
“Glory players will hit the nail on the head of this visionary project through participation in community
events at Somerly, as well as local junior coaching clinics,” he said.
Somerly Project Director David Cecchele said Somerly Estate, Summit Homes and Western QBE viewed the
sponsorship as a natural boundary extension of their corporate social responsibility, highlighting their
collective commitment to contribute to stronger, healthier communities.
“This partnership flags the similar ideals of all participants and provides long-term benefits by helping
WA’s rookie soccer players – and the communities in which they live -- to reach their true potential,”
Mr Cecchele said.
“Our media partners in this wonderful initiative, Nova FM and TVW Channel 7, will help to maximise both
community participation and the benefits that ensue, so we’re excited indeed.”
