Blues wrap up victory
The New South Wales Blues have wrapped up their first win of the Pura cup with
an impressive 187-run victory over the South Australian Redbacks at the Sydney
Cricket Ground today.
The Redbacks were chasing 360 runs for an unlikely victory, and were in more
strife when Greg Blewett clipped one off Glenn McGrath into the hands of
wicketkeeper Brad Haddin.
Darren Lehmann and Callum Ferguson provided some resistance for the Redbacks
in a 76-run partnership, before Stuart MacGill had Lehmann caught off a
slog-sweep for 76.
Left-armer Nathan Bracken geared up before lunch, taking the wickets of
Ferguson (44), Cameron Borgas (0) and wicketkeeper Graham Manou (6) and leaving
South Australia in a very poor position at lunch on the fourth day.
After the break, Bracken claimed the scalps of Paul Rofe (15) and Mark Cleary
(18) as a result of some tantalising seam-bowling to take New South Wales to the
top of the Pura cup table.
