Sydney FC begins countdown to World Club Champs

A-League Club - Sydney FC With just six weeks remaining until Sydney FC ventures onto the world stage and Australian Football makes its first foray into Asia with the FIFA World Club Championships (CWC) in Japan, fans are being offered the chance to witness the historic moment first hand.

Sydney FC won through to the FIFA CWC by claiming the Australian and then Oceania Qualifying Tournaments earlier this year and is ready to take on some of the world’s most successful teams for the right to be crowned World Champion Club.

It is a once in a lifetime opportunity, not only for the players, but also for football fans.

Sydney FC faces CONCACAF Club Champions Deportivo Saprissa (Costa Rica) in the first round on December 11 with the winner set to face English giants and current UEFA Champions League holders Liverpool FC in the semi final.

South American Superpowers Sao Paulo from Brazil are the other team that has been seeded through to the semi finals with the winners of the Asian and African Champions Leagues due to meet in the first round.

The AFC (Asia) and CAF (Africa) Champions Leagues are currently halfway through the final stage with both competitions settling the first leg of the final recently.

While Asia and Africa are still chasing a place in the tournament, Sydney FC is advanced with its planning and has announced travel packages for fans wanting to taste the football revolution, which is sweeping through Asia, and is about to take Australian Football on a new and exciting ride.

The packages have been put together by McGann Travel and offer return air travel with Qantas, eight nights accommodation in Nagoya and Tokyo, internal travel on the Bullet Train and some exclusive Sydney FC Tour Merchandise.

The Tour leaves Sydney on December 10 and includes match tickets to three games, including the final, which will be staged at Yokohama Stadium, the venue of the 2002 World Cup Final before returning home on December 20.

Enquiries and bookings can be made through McGann Travel on (02) 8543 3666 or on-line at www.mcganntravel.com.au. Prices vary depending on your choice of match tickets and accommodation but bookings must be made by this Saturday (November 5).
