Cricket Australia unveils new look summer season
Free entry offer for kids on Day Three at each Test match
The great Australian tradition of beach cricket was celebrated today in Brisbane when Matthew Hayden and
Justin Langer joined two passionate cricket families to officially launch the 2005-06 international
season.
Set against the picturesque Brisbane skyline, Hayden and Langer helped the Franklin and Stimpson families
reach a friendly tie in an entertaining showcase of one of Australia's favourite pastimes.
The theme of families and cricket is reflected in the new look Test Series program which includes the
introduction of Family Day.
On the third day at each Test match, kids (aged 16 and under) can enter for free* as part of the Family Day
promotion.
Family Day ambassador Matthew Hayden says that the initiative is a great way for families to experience the
fun that cricket can provide in an enjoyable environment.
"For families who have never attended a Test match before this is a great chance to experience a day of
summer fun at the cricket," said Hayden.
The 2005-06 Test Series program will also see the Australian team take part in a Community Training Day in
the lead up to each match**, providing fans with a chance to get up close and personal with their cricket
heroes. (**Subject to confirmation)
Cricket Australia Chief Executive, James Sutherland, is encouraging people to take advantage of the
exciting new offers.
"The Community Training Days will be the place to be in the lead up to each Test match this summer and
Family Day will have something for everyone.
"We're inviting all Australians to come and enjoy our new look summer season."
