Stars align ahead of National Competition Kickoff
NSW has moved another step closer towards kickoff of the new National Competition, with Sydney premiership
clubs finalising their individual team alignment for next season and beyond.
The Northern Suburbs club today completed the complex task by opting to join neighbouring
Manly, Warringah
and Gordon in aligning with the Central Coast side playing out of Gosford’s Bluetongue Central Coast Stadium.
Eastern Suburbs, Randwick, Sothern Districts and Sydney University will feed into the Sydney team, while
Eastwood, Parramatta, Penrith, and West Harbour will form the Sydney West outfit.
Shute Shield teams Central Coast and Illawarra will also have a presence in the Central Coast and Sydney
teams respectively.
NSWRU Chief Executive Fraser Neill has applauded the clubs for their willingness to get on with the job at
hand.
“This has been a tough process for the clubs and they should be commended for their positive and pragmatic
approach,” Mr. Neill said.
“This part of the puzzle is now complete and I’m pleased to say the rest of the planning process is well
advanced, with focus groups currently meeting to work on such important issues as team branding.”
