Rugby League Reporter for Sports Australia since February 2005, Darren is currently completing a Diploma of Journalism and Media in Sports Writing and Photography with the Australian College of Journalism, and is a welcome addition to the SportsAustralia.com reporting team.

A qualified Physical Education teacher, Darren's writing career began through his involvement with student theatre at Melbourne's La Trobe University. During this time he wrote, directed and performed in numerous short plays, comedy revues and an eight-part radio serial produced and broadcast on 3RRR in Melbourne.

But his passion for writing and sport collided when selected as the Fan in the Outer for the Essendon Football Club official website essendonfc.com.au in 2003. His weekly Fans Diary column were so well received he has been a weekly contributor to the most popular AFL club website ever since, as well as writing news stories for The Bomber magazine in 2004. In 2005, Darren's exclusive column - The Snowdon Stand - will feature every Thursday during the season.

However, Darren was born and raised in the heart of rugby league country and is fully committed to covering all the action of the 2005 NRL season. He is also looking forward to contributing to the coverage of other sports throughout the year, including the tennis grand slams and Tri-Nations rugby union.
