Sydney FC continues stuttering start

Hyundai A-League Sydney FC has continued their inconsistent start to the season, finishing 2-2 and were unlucky to escape with a draw in front 15,488 fans at Aussie Stadium this afternoon.

Steve Corica’s 33rd minute penalty after some comical Jets defending, and a David Zdrillic header which looped over Jets keeper Ben Kennedy just five minutes later were not enough to seal victory for the champions, after two debut goals from new Colombian signing Milton Rodriquez sealed a point for the Newcastle side.

Sydney FC dominated much of the first half, despite creating very little and with Benito Carbone agreeing terms to a short-term deal he may well see action against the New Zealand Knights on Thursday.

The Jets were not without their chances either, with Nick Carle making some incisive runs, but it took until the first half injury time for the Jets to get within a goal with Rodriquez finishing after some nice work from Carle and short term signing Paul Kohler.

Rodriguez equalised in the 62nd after Clint Bolton was beaten at his near post, after some quick thinking from a Jets free kick.
