Reds duo in doubt for Brumbies match

Queensland Reds Queensland Reds duo Ben Tune and Mitch Chapman are in doubt for Saturday’s final-deciding APC match against the Brumbies at Ballymore.

Tune injured his back prior to Sunday’s outstanding win over the Waratah’s but still managed to play for 50 minutes.

Chapman has a shoulder problem but both players will be monitored throughout the week in the hope they will play in the match that could decide who plays in the APC final.

Coach Eddie Jones has credited his side’s win over NSW to a change in attitude from the players after they let themselves down against the Force.

“We were much more physical and much more committed and the execution of our skills was far better,” Jones said.

The dominance of the Reds pack was a major factor in the team’s win which carried through to the rest of the game, giving the backs plenty of scoring opportunities.

“The outside backs scored five of the six tries and that was the result of good go-forward ball produced by the forwards.”

While Jones wouldn’t say that this was the new style of play for the Queenslanders, he said it made sense to consider it.

“We know we’re going to have a big pack so we’ve got to be able to use that pack effectively.”

The Reds team will be named on Thursday.
