Western Australia unbeaten heading into last round

U21 Nationals Day Three Review/Day Four Preview

Netball Australia Western Australia are now the only undefeated team at the 2006 U/21 national netball titles, after emerging victorious in their much anticipated clash against Victoria last night.

In a tight match, it was the second quarter which proved costly for Victoria. After both teams went to the quarter time break at twelve apiece, Western Australia came out and ran rampant in the second quarter, winning it 18–9.

Victoria went on to win the second half of the game, however the damage had been done, as Western Australia finished the game with a 52–46 victory.

In other news from day three, ACT and South Australia both broke through for their first wins of the tournament as they defeated Tasmania in the round matches. NSW won both their games, beating South Australia, 62–41, and ACT, 60–32, and Victoria handed Queensland a 32 goal thrashing, winning 62–31.

The last round of preliminary matches commences today, with NSW taking on Tasmania, Western Australia clashing with Queensland, and South Australia searching for their second victory of the championships over ACT. Victoria has the bye.
