Netballers get pay rise
Netball Australia has agreed to increase the payments of the Australian Netball Team ahead of the three Test
series against New Zealand, which begins in a fortnight in Auckland.
Payments for players will increase for those in the national squad when they are on tour as well when they
attend camps.
Noeleen Dix, president of Netball Australia says the increased payments are needed for the players who
represent their country while at the same time they juggle work and study commitments.
“It is just a reward. The increased payments will assist players who need to take time off (work),” said
Dix
Dix believes the agreement struck between Netball Australia and the Australian Netball Players Association
(ANPA) is a positive move forward following the remuneration negotiations.
“Netball Australia will continue to target potential revenue sources to further develop the professionalism
of the sport.”
The Australian squad will travel to Canberra for a training camp starting tomorrow and ending on Monday
under coach Norma Plummer with the team to tour New Zealand announced next week.
ABC TV will show all three Test matches and this includes live coverage of the second test on Saturday
October 14th from 4:30pm AEST.
In other netball news, former Melbourne Phoenix and Australian goaler Eloise Southby-Halbish is to have a
testimonial function staged in her honour on Wednesday November 15th at the RACV Club in Melbourne.
