Roosters sign Beattie

Sydney Roosters The Sydney Roosters have signed Les Catalans prop forward Chris Beattie to a one-year contract.

The agreement will see Beattie join the club for their 100th season in 2007.

The 30 year old former Sharks and Queensland State of Origin prop joined Les Catalans in 2005.

“I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to join the Roosters for their 100th season in 2007 and excited at the chance to return and complete my career in the NRL.

“I’m also looking forward to the chance to play under Chris Anderson again” Beattie concluded.

Beattie’s addition to the 2007 Roosters squad will add maturity to the ever strengthening forward pack including exciting new recruits Nate Myles and Beattie’s former Sharks team mate Danny Nutley.

In other news; There has been a huge sigh of relief echoed around the corridors of Roosters Headquarters with captain Craig Fitzgibbon’s off-season ankle surgery rated a success.

Fitzgibbon is still getting around on crutches, but early reports suggest Fitzy is back on the mend to perfect health.

“I have to see the specialist this week for a further update on my progress,” Fitzgibbon said.

“The early signs are good and I’m looking forward to getting back on the road to recovery. I will able to do some pool work and upper body weights very soon, but running will unfortunately still be a couple of months away.

“2007 is going to be huge and I’m not going to let anything stop me from leading the Roosters out in round 1 as we chase our 1000th win.”

Fitzgibbon is now looking forward to relaxing at home with his family and enjoying the excitement of Grand Final football after a long and tough season.
