Wolves show their claws to beat Glory

English Premier League side Wolverhampton Wanderers have kicked started their Australian tour with a 1-0 victory against Perth Glory at Members Equity Stadium on Friday night.

Sylvan Ebanks-Blake scored the only goal of the night after only two minutes, and for the rest of the game both sides failed to create too many chances, although there were good signs for the A-League side, with Mile Sterjovski, Andy Todd and Jacob burns making their debut’s.

It was a good start for the side from the West Midlands and they were ahead after only two minutes. A long throw from George Elokobi was flicked on by Chris Iwelumo to Ebanks-Blake, who stabbed the ball home at the second attempt. Read more

Glory ease past Cockburn City in training match

Perth Glory continued their preparation for the new A-League season with a comprehensive 7-0 victory against Football West Premier League side Cockburn City at Dalmatinac Park on Saturday morning.

Cockburn, with former Glory winger Scott Miller as their Coach, started well with Matthew Grigo and Brazilian Renato Jelen causing the Glory problems down the flanks, while Aaron dos Santos was instrumental, as the Cockerels tested Glory goalkeeper Aleks Vrteski on several occasions in the first half hour, but Vrteski was up to the task and held onto his clean sheet.

The floodgates opened late in the first half when the former Glory Youth midfielder Andrija Jukic volleyed home Jimmy Downey’s cross from the right flank.

Scott Bulloch scrambled home the second from a corner and curled a free kick around the Cockburn City wall from long-range to make it 3-0 at half time. Read more
