Wallabies defeat Wales in Cardiff

A two try effort by Australian fullback Israel Folau has helped the Wallabies to a 33-28 victory over Wales in Cardiff on Sunday morning Australian Eastern time.

The victory means Australia has won ten consecutive Test matches against Wales and gained a mental edge over the side a year out from the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

Australia edge out Barbarians in thriller

The Wallabies have defeated the Barbarians 40 to 36 in a close encounter at Twickenham Stadium in London on Sunday morning.

The Wallabies scored six tries to the Barbarians five in 77 point match that saw both sides test out their attack with fast attacking Rugby.

The victory is Australia’s first win on their five week tour of Europe with their next match against Wales at Millennium Stadium in Cardiff on Saturday 8 November. Read more

Folau named 2014 John Eales medallist

Wallabies and New South Wales Waratahs fullback Israel Folau has been handed the ultimate honour in Australian Rugby after tonight being named the John Eales Medallist for 2014.

At Rugby’s night of nights, the ARU celebrated and acknowledged the men and women in the Australian Rugby community – fans, players, coaches, match officials and administrators – for their dedication, commitment and outstanding performance.

The 2014 ceremony was the first time performances in Asteron Life Super Rugby competition were incorporated into the event, while it was the first opportunity to recognise the best performers from the inaugural Buildcorp National Rugby Championship season. Read more

Wallabies gallant in close defeat to New Zealand

The Wallabies have been defeated by the All Blacks at the death 29 to 28 at Suncorp Stadium, Brisbane on Saturday night in front of a crowd of 45 186.

The defeat is the first on home soil for the Wallabies this year and means that the Bledisloe Cup series has been won by New Zealand 2-0.

The Match:

The Wallabies started the match with great intent as the Australian backs tested their hands with fast passes, but some inconsistent handling cost the men in gold early opportunities. Read more

Wallabies go down to Argentina in Mendoza

Despite leading 14-0 in the first half, the Wallabies have fallen to Argentina 21-17 on Sunday morning after a mountain of Argentinian possession and penalties allowed the Pumas to claim their first win in the Castrol Edge Rugby Championship.

The Wallabies will get the chance to redeem themselves when they play the world number one All Blacks in Brisbane on Saturday 18 October.


Australia started the match defending the Pumas who held possession well to march 60 metres with some quick off loads and secure work at the breakdown preventing the Wallabies from pilfering the ball. Read more

Wallabies go down to South Africa in Cape Town

The Wallabies have been unable to hold out South Africa at home in Cape Town with Australia going down to South Africa 28-10, despite a valiant effort from the men in gold who led at half time.

The Wallabies matched the Springboks for physicality but South Africa’s momentum in the later stages of the second half allowed the home team to score two tries to ensure the victory.

The Wallabies will now travel to Argentina for an important clash against the Pumas next week, in the last round of the 2014 Castrol Edge Rugby Championship. Read more

The Wallabies have held off a late surge from Argentina at Cbus Super Stadium on the Gold Coast, keeping intact their unbeaten run on Australian soil in 2014 with a 32-25 victory.

The victory meant that Australia held on to the Pumas trophy for another consecutive year.

Australia’s 62 per cent possession and 669 run metres, highlighted Australia’s dominance throughout the match despite the close score line. Read more

Injury forces McCabe into early retirement

Pat McCabe will announce his retirement from rugby on Thursday following a third break to his C1 vertebrae. McCabe suffered the injury while playing against the All Blacks for the Wallabies in Auckland on Saturday night.

The Brumbies back has been a part of the fulltime squad since 2010, having arrived in Canberra a year earlier through the Brumbies Academy.

Since then he has gone on to claim 66 caps for the UC Brumbies and 24 for the Wallabies, including the 2013 British & Irish Lions Series, 2011 Rugby World Cup, 2014 Super Rugby Finals Series and Spring Tours in 2010 and 2012. Read more

Wallabies unable to breach Eden Park fortress

The Wallabies have been defeated by the All Blacks 51 to 20 at Eden Park in Auckland on Saturday night.

The All Blacks have been undefeated at the venue since 1994 but despite a valiant effort from the men in gold, Australia was unable to break the drought in Auckland.

The Wallabies continued to play a strong brand of attacking Rugby throughout the Test but were unable to match the All Blacks for the full 80 minutes meaning that the Bledisloe Cup remains in New Zealand for another year. Read more

Wallabies halt World Record hunting All Blacks

The Wallabies have halted the All Blacks’ world record run of 17 straight wins with a brutal 12-12 draw at ANZ Stadium in Sydney on Saturday night.

In front of 68 627 fans, the Wallabies were unable to claim victory in the first match of the Castrol EDGE Rugby Championship and Bledisloe Cup despite being the more dominant side in the second half.

The Wallabies will now depart for Auckland to continue their bid to claim the Bledisloe Cup for 2014 with a victory at Eden Park, followed by a third Bledisloe Cup Test in Brisbane on Saturday, October 18. Read more
