Sea Eagles name squad for Auckland Nines

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles will field eight of their new players at the NRL Auckland Nines tournament at Eden Park on the weekend of February 4-5.

Sea Eagles Coach Trent Barrett has today released his 18-man squad for the annual tournament which sees Manly taking on St George-Illawarra Dragons, Parramatta Eels, and the NZ Warriors, in the Piha Pool.

The Sea Eagles are the first NRL club to name their squad for the 2017 tournament that carries NZ $2.6 million dollars plus in prize-money. Matches are played over two nine-minute halves with nine players per team on the field. Read more

Cherry-Evans named new Manly captain

Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles Head Coach Trent Barrett today officially named premiership, Origin and International halfback Daly Cherry-Evans as Jamie Lyon’s successor as the club’s new captain.

And the club’s newest international Jake Trbojevic has been named as vice-captain.

Barrett hailed the naming of the two as having key roles as part of a brand new era for Manly.

“Daly has been a standout during our pre-season. He is a natural leader and was an obvious choice for us as our next captain,’’ Barrett said.

“Jake is our vice-captain and being only 22-years-old, the experience he will gain in this role alongside Daly gives us a long two long term leaders who can take this club to where it needs to be.” Read more

Sea Eagles secure Brookvale Oval

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are today moving full steam ahead in their quest for 15,000 Members after reaching an agreement with Warringah Council over Brookvale Oval hiring fees.

The Sea Eagles and Council last night came to an agreement for the next two years which will see the Club pay $375,000 per annum and being provided with the right to sell the naming rights to Brookvale Oval.

The Club is now gearing up for a massive season opener against arch rivals Canterbury-Bankstown Bulldogs at Brookvale Oval on Friday March 4. Read more

Sea Eagles welcome Taupau and Brown

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have today officially welcomed New Zealand internationals Martin Taupau and Lewis Brown to the Club.

Both players proudly pulled on the Sea Eagles colours for the first time shortly after arriving at Sydney International Airport following the Kiwis tour of England.

The recruitment of Taupau on a four-year deal was touted as one of the Club’s biggest signings since two time premiership winning forward Malcolm Reilly.

Manly Head Coach Trent Barrett said Taupau was a massive coup for the Club.

“Martin’s signing made everyone sit up and take notice that we are hell bent on succeeding. He is going to be a huge part of that,” Barrett said. Read more

Brett Stewart extends Manly contract

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles is pleased to announce the contract extension of dynamic full-back Brett Stewart for a further one-year.

Off contract at the end of 2016, Stewart is now secured to the Sea Eagles until the end of the 2017 season.

Stewart’s decision to extend his contract is a vote of confidence in the Club’s future. Read more

Manly Club announcement on Geoff Toovey

The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles have met with Geoff Toovey and mutually agreed that he will remain as coach until the end of the 2015 season.

The club will honour Toovey’s contract in full until the end of the 2016 season.

Former St George-Illawarra, NSW Origin and Australian Test five-eighth Trent Barrett will be the new Sea Eagles coach for the next three years from 2016. Read more

Cherry-Evans a ‘Sea Eagle for Life’

Daly Cherry-Evans today announced that he will be a Sea Eagle for life.

Cherry-Evans signed a playing contract that will keep him at Brookvale until the end of his NRL career. This will make the 26-year-old a one club player.

A Mackay Brothers junior, Cherry-Evans came through the lower grade ranks at the Sea Eagles before making his NRL and Club debut in Manly’s 2011 Premiership year. He has gone on to play for Queensland and Australia out of the Sea Eagles system. Read more

Manly sign Nate Myles

Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are pleased to announce the signing of Australian Test forward Nate Myles on a three-year contract.

Myles will join the Sea Eagles from 2016 after finishing his commitments with the Gold Coast Titans and will call Brookvale home until the end of the 2018 season.

Ballin extends Sea Eagles stay

The Manly Warringah Sea Eagles are thrilled to announce the re-signing of Matt Ballin until the end of the 2017 NRL season, on the eve of his 200th first-grade game for the Club.

Ballin will become only the third Manly hooker to reach the 200 game-milestone when he leads the team out this Easter Saturday at Lavington Sports Ground, Albury.

The Manly stalwart is pleased to have agreed to terms with the Club that he has won two premierships with since making his debut against the Wests Tigers in Round Two, 2007. Read more

Foran signs with Parramatta

The Parramatta Eels have today announced Kieran Foran has agreed to terms with the club for the next four years.

The 24 year-old international, who has played 19 Tests for New Zealand, will leave the Sea Eagles at the end of the 2015 season to join the Blue and Gold from 2016.

“Today’s signing is a great endorsement for the club’s positive transformation over the last two years,” Eels Chairman Steve Sharp said. Read more
