Sydney FC are within touching distance of the A-League Premiers Plate after a 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory took them eleven points clear at the top of the ladder.
The Sky Blues could wrap up the title as early as next weekend which would make them the fastest winners of the Plate in A-League history.

Sydney FC came from behind to deservedly move an incredible 11 points clear at the top of the A-League and stretch their unbeaten run to an immense 17 games since the start of the season.
Filip Holosko’s first half header cancelled out James Troisi’s opener for second placed Melbourne before Bernie Ibini scored a stunning second half winner.
Hosts Melbourne were reduced to ten men after James Donachie was sent off following a reckless challenge on Alex Brosque, as the striker looked to increase the Sky Blues lead. Read more

Football Federation Australia (FFA) has today fined Melbourne Victory $50,000 and imposed a suspended three (3) competition point deduction after finding the club guilty of bringing the game into disrepute.
The finding relates to the misconduct of some Melbourne Victory supporters before, during and after last weekend’s Melbourne Derby at AAMI Park.
FFA has handed down the sanction after Melbourne Victory supporters were found to have taken part in a series of incidents, including the ignition of flares outside and inside AAMI Park, an alleged assault on TV news personnel outside the stadium, throwing missiles at a Melbourne City player and a Victoria Police officer, and altercations with police after the match. The A-League 2015/16 Season kicks off in October with three blockbuster rounds featuring a Sydney Derby, Melbourne Derby and an Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory blockbuster at Adelaide Oval to give fans a turbo charged start to Season 11 of Australia’s premier domestic football competition.
The season will burst into action on Thursday 8 October as the Western Sydney Wanderers host Brisbane Roar, kick-starting a season that will run uninterrupted through to the A-League 2016 Grand Final, which will played on Sunday 1 May 2016.
Round one will feature the traditional interstate Adelaide United v Melbourne Victory clash at Adelaide Oval on Friday 9 October. Read more

Melbourne Victory Football Club would like to thank John Aloisi for his contribution to the club following his appointment as head coach at Brisbane Roar.
Aloisi, who joined Melbourne Victory as development coach of the club’s youth program in February, was unveiled as Brisbane’s new head coach on Tuesday night.
“We were well aware of John’s desire to coach again at A-League level when he joined Melbourne Victory and he leaves with our full support,” Melbourne Victory CEO Ian Robson said. Read more

Ernie Merrick will be coaching his 200th A League game when the Wellington Phoenix take on the Brisbane Roar at Suncorp Stadium on Sunday which is quite an achievement for someone who had no ambitions to be a coach.
Asked to look back over a career that includes 151 games with Melbourne Victory and 49 with the Phoenix, Merrick sits back in his chair and smiles.
“It is quite amazing when I didn’t think I would be a coach in the first place,” he says. Read more

Irish international striker Andy Keogh has scored his 10th A-League goal of the season to help Perth Glory FC secure a 1-1 draw against title favourites, Melbourne Victory at AAMI Park on Saturday night.
Tensions ran high throughout the night, as Keogh opened the scoring just before the stroke of half time, coinciding with a night of milestones for several Glory players.
Goalkeeper Danny Vukovic played his 100th match in purple and equalled the A-League record for most appearances. Read more

Perth Glory FC has extended its lead at the top of the A-League by a solid seven points, after a sublime performance, defeating rivals Melbourne Victory 2-1 at Simonds Stadium in Geelong.
Two quick goals in less than 20 minutes, the first a clinical finish from Andy Keogh in the 9’ and then an elegant goal by Chris Harold in the 16’, set Glory in a commanding position for the rest of the game.

A-League Premiers Brisbane Roar secured their third home Grand Final in four seasons, courtesy of thrilling 1-0 win over Melbourne Victory at Suncorp Stadium tonight.
The Roar will now host Western Sydney Wanderers in the competition decider at Suncorp Stadium at 4pm next Sunday, May 4.
Striker Besart Berisha broke the deadlock just before the 60th minute to edge the home side ahead. Read more

Sydney FC crashed out of the A-League Finals Series tonight despite a dominant performance after an injury time goal from Gui Finkler gave Melbourne Victory a 2-1 win in the Elimination Final.
Victory had taken a first half lead through Archie Thompson but the Sky Blues hit back before the break with a Seb Ryall goal, while Alessandro Del Piero also hit the post.
Nathan Coe was in fine form in the Victory goal and spectacularly denied Sydney FC twice in the second half before Finkler struck with seconds remaining to win the game. Read more
