Roosters sign Tedesco, release Evans

The Sydney Roosters have signed talented fullback James Tedesco while also announcing the departure of prop-forward Kane Evans at seasons end.

Tedesco, 24, will join the Roosters next year on a four-year deal, while Evans has put pen to paper and signed with Parramatta for the next three years.

“James is a tremendously exciting talent whose signature we are pleased to have secured and we look forward to welcoming him to the Roosters in 2018,” said Sydney Roosters CEO, Joe Kelly. Read more

Roosters to play at Adelaide Oval in 2017

The Sydney Roosters have today announced that the Club will host a ‘home’ game in Adelaide in 2017.

The match will be played at one of the country’s most iconic grounds – Adelaide Oval – and will be the first time that the Sydney Roosters have played in South Australia.

South Australian Tourism and Sport Minister Leon Bignell today joined Roosters CEO John Lee, Head Coach Trent Robinson and senior player Mitchell Aubusson, as well as NRL Head of Football Brian Canavan, to make the announcement at Adelaide Oval. Read more

Roosters sign Dale Copley

The Sydney Roosters have today announced the signing of talented outside back Dale Copley.

Copley and the Roosters reached agreement overnight on a three-year contract that brings the 24 year-old to the Sydney club with immediate effect through to the conclusion of the 2018 season.

Roosters recruitment manager Peter O’Sullivan believes Copley will be a valuable asset for the Roosters moving forward. Read more

O’Donnell announces his retirement

Sydney Roosters prop Luke O’Donnell has today announced his retirement from rugby league, closing the curtain on a career that has spanned more than 14 years with success at club and representative level.

33 year-old O’Donnell made his return to the NRL with the Roosters this year following a two-year stint in the English Super League and quickly established himself as an integral member of the Club’s forwards.

The former Balmain Tigers, Wests Tigers, North Queensland Cowboys, Huddersfield Giants and Roosters representative played a total of 215 first grade matches, with 188 of those in the NRL. His final game was as a member of the Roosters 2013 Premiership-winning side in this year’s Grand Final. Read more

Minichiello locked in for 2014

The Sydney Roosters are thrilled to announce that one-club man Anthony Minichiello has today agreed to terms for another season with the Club, keeping him at the Roosters until the end of 2014.

“My heart is and always will be with the Roosters. I’ve grown up here and it’s my home,” said Minichiello.

Minichiello joined the Roosters junior grades in 1997 and will contest his 15th season in first grade with the Club in 2014. Read more

World Club Challenge returns to Australia

The World Club Challenge will be contested on Australian soil for the first time in two decades on February 22, when the NRL Premiers Sydney Roosters host English Super League Champs, Wigan Warriors

The Roosters and Wigan have been in regular contact with the NRL as preparations for the match get underway and can now confirm details of the game.

“This is a great event for all Rugby League fans who have waited a long time to have the opportunity to attend a match like this in Australia,” said Paul Kind, NRL Head of Marketing and Commercial. Read more

Williams named Jack Gibson Medalist

Sonny Bill Williams has tonight been named winner of the prestigious Jack Gibson Medal at the Sydney Roosters 2013 Awards Night.

The award, for the Player of the Year, was presented to Williams by Roosters Chairman Nick Politis and John Gibson, son of the late Jack Gibson.

Sydney Roosters Captain Anthony Minichiello won the James Mathews Award for Clubman of the Year, recognising the extensive work he has done both on and off the field as the leader of the Sydney Roosters playing group. Read more

Mortimer extends Roosters contract

The Sydney Roosters are pleased to announce that Daniel Mortimer has signed a two-year extension, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2015 season.

“I feel so comfortable here at the Roosters. I’m really enjoying being part of the team and have made some great friends here, on and off the footy field,” said Mortimer.

“The club’s been great to me, I know my role and I’m learning so much – and that’s a big part of the reason I really wanted to stay at the club. I’m excited that I’ll continue to represent the Roosters for a further two years,” he added. Read more

Symonds granted immediate release

The Sydney Roosters have today announced that Tom Symonds has been granted an immediate release from his contract to join the Manly-Warringah Sea Eagles.

Symonds, a local junior who made his first grade debut with the club in 2009, said: “I’m heartbroken to be leaving the only club I have ever known, but this has been my decision to make and as tough as it’s been to do this, I feel that it’s in my best interests.

“The Roosters have been great to me and from my teammates to all the staff, I’ve made so many friends here. It’s felt like family and the club and everyone associated with it will always hold a special place in my heart. Read more

Roosters sign Michael Jennings

The Sydney Roosters have secured the services of Michael Jennings, with the Australian and NSW representative joining the club immediately after being granted a release from his contract with the Penrith Panthers.

24 year-old Jennings has agreed to a four-year arrangement with the Roosters that will take him through to the conclusion of the 2016 season.

“The Roosters have a talented roster and I’m excited to have joined the team. I have met with Trent Robinson and am looking forward to getting to know my new teammates, getting stuck into training, working hard and playing alongside guys like Mitchell Pearce who I have already played with at Origin level.” Read more
