Needing 14 from the last over, bowled by Hurricanes captain Heather Knight, McGlashan dominated, hitting the second ball for six and then lofting the last ball down the ground for two to claim a most unlikely win.

The Sixers’ stunning late season flurry of victories now totals eight in a row after losing their first six matches. Read more

Led by David Willey with the ball and top-order trio Michael Klinger, Shaun Marsh and Marcus Harris, the Sixers total of 8-112 was never seriously challenged by the home side who achieved the target with 33 balls to spare.

Marsh (63 not out) and Klinger (28) meanwhile continued on from where they left off against the Renegades mid-week though their attempt to notch another 100-run plus first wicket stand was halted on 65 when Klinger paddled over his left shoulder to Will Somerville standing at fine leg in the 10th over.
